Don't under-estimate the power of a blog!

We live in a society today that is greatly influenced and overpowered by the media and pop culture. It’s not difficult to see that our world is extremely obsessed with celebrities and gossip. I cannot recall a time reading a newspaper or watching the news and not seeing anything about a famous star. Sadly, Celebrity news has become prevalent in the average American’s life. When Celebrities experience a scandal or a big Hollywood break up, we all need to know every detail about it. By the media making this juicy gossip so easily accessible, in some ways it has become quite addicting. As a result, I thought it would be very interesting to make my blog page reflect upon the interdependence of Celebrity life and American culture. Through maintaining a blog site, I feel that my writing skills have improved and gotten stronger. This is because writing became something I had to do several times a week in order to keep my page up to date. Furthermore, I feel I gain a sense of imagination and creativity. I aimed to make the design of my page flashy and attention grabbing. What I liked about it most in regards to writing, was the capability to write blogs in both an objective and subjective manner. I was able to discuss what was going on in Hollywood and add my own feelings and reactions towards it. I believe that writing blogs is a good method to practice writing and help you develop ideas more clearly. Furthermore, I felt it allowed us facilitate communication between the readers and ourselves by providing us with access to a larger audience platform. I enjoyed that fact that my site brought out my personality and my views. I discovered that Celebrity life does affect me too. After all, I created an entire blog site about it.The benefits of blog writing are endless. As a result of maintaining my “Glamour Gossip” blog site, I improved many of my skills and learned a lot about myself and my beliefs. I am grateful that I was capable of expressing myself. Blog writing is not only fun, but can impact your life tremendously. It lets your mind wander off into a world of ideas, expressions and beliefs. There’s no matter way to account for what you are thinking than to write it down. I hope my Blog site has been entertaining to its readers and after a great experience with my site I plan to continue to maintain it. I would encourage anyone to write a blog .I couldn’t sum up my feelings on blogging in any better way than restating this quote by Beth Kephart “Blogging is a treasure hunt for the imagination where one combines heart, soul and insights on a quest to write the illusive perfect post.” So upon up your mind, search through your imagination, and find the golden chest.

Like Mother Like Daughter

It is sad to think, but sometimes people turn out the way they do because of their parents. Family sets the foundation for your life and can have a huge impact on the person you become. Lindsey Lohan appears to not have the best parents, when sources claim her and her mother Dina were out till 530 am partying. I'm not saying that a mother and daughter can't go out and enjoy a night together, but to get excessively drunk and sloppy in front of your daughter who already has problems to begin with is not really admirable. It doesn't help when your mother acts like she twenty two and tries to be your best friend, and your father is getting out of jail in a few weeks. What does Lindsey really have to look up to? To me Dina and Lindsey look like white trash trailing around New York City hungover and entirely impaired. It makes me wonder that the explanation for her wild behavior is genetics. Her mother acts so improper and "slutty" in New York City resturants, according to the New York daily news, who has seen her being improperly touched by a random man while wearing a skimpy black dress. I just don't get some people's parents skills. You see your daughter has serious issues. She went from being a promising child hood star to a drug addict, sloppy, complete and utter failure. Yet, her mother still condones going out and partying instead of encouraging her to get her life back on track. I can honestly say that in a girls life, her mother has the greatest influence and impact on her. She is the one in which you gain your morals and values. I think her mother manipulates Lindsey and is not a good role model at all. I don't understand why mothers can't be mothers and not try to be their daughters best friend. I mean c'mon Dina was twenty years old twenty five years ago. You have to grow up some time and learn to act your age. Going out and getting hamered with your daughter, especially when you know the potpourouzzi is going to be everywhere, why would you make a fool of yourself? Every step Lindsey takes is photographed and reported on TV. I don't know why Dina would be stupid enough to act like an idiot, as if it won't be all over the new tomorrow. She is just providing the media with more gossip. Dina needs to realize that she is a mother and start taking responsibilitiy for her own actions and learn to be a parent. She should be ashamed of herself, she is making her daughters reputation even worse!

Everything But Music!

I'm driving to school this morning at 8:30 am. I attempt to put on a good song by switching back to my favorite stations such as Z100, Power 105, KTU and Hot 97. But of course nothing is playing on the radio but stupid commercials and the commentators talking to one another saying all this stuff trying to be funny. Listen , nobody wants to hear about your life as an announcer we want to listen to music! A good song! What I really love is how they have these "commercial free" sessions but then once there over theres an hour of "music free" sessions. This just gets me so angry. The point of an FM station is to listen to music. I like listeing to music while I'm driving to work or school. I don't wanna hear that Nissan is having a sale or go to Sleepy's for bed matresses. I want to hear the hot new songs. Isn't that what a radio channel is about? Hearing music, being able to just jam out to Z100, rap to Power 105 or relax to 106.7 lite fm is what the purpose of having these radio stations are. There's a radio station that suites everyone's taste and interest. I would just like it if I could hear more music and less of the commentators. You even see this on Television. Every five minutes your favorite TV show goes on a break to yet another few minutes of commercials. This just really gets to me. Why can't these lame commentators just be quiet and do there job which is to :Play Music! I don't feel like cruising around to commericals, its so ridiculous!

"The Crazy Lady"

It's truly amazing how one person can change your whole perspective on life. I was working the other day in the mall and this weird lady approached me. Dressed in tight leggings with a baggy t-shirt, socks and sandals with a cup in her hand chewing on a lemon. Her hair was a mess; her face wrinkled and worn out. She came up to me simple telling me that she liked my outfit and said it was very "city like" which is where she grew up. We then begn conversating about my job and school and she suddenly began telling me the story of her life. I stood their in amazement as she told me all the crazy and tragic things she has experienced throughout her life. Born as an only child to a young mother, she grew up in the ghetto area of the city after being abondoned by her father who was a heavy druggie and alcoholic. Her mom then met a successful business man who had tons of money. He took care of her and her mother moving them into a luxury apartment in the upper side of the city. There she lived for many years enjoying great wealth and living the ultimate "city life."Unforunately, her mom's new boyfriend passed away and all his possessions were given to his sister. From there she and her mother moved to Staten Island and got a decent size house in Annadale back in the 1970's. Years later she met a fireman and was soon to be married and gave birth to her first child, a baby girl who is currently twenty three. To her luck, her husband left her and her infant daughter for a eighteen year old prostitute. How abusurd is that? She moved back in with her mother and daughter. A few years later she met a new man and fell madly in love with him. Turns out he becomes a sick durg addict and an abusive husband. Due to the issues she was left to face with this man she gave up custody of her daughter to a good friend. Now many years later she lives on welfare without any job and struggles with her husband who till this day still abuses her. She showed me marks that he left on her and told me horrid stories of what he has done to her. She tried to start a relationship with her daughter gain, however she rejects her. Her daughter wants nothing to do with her and still doesn't forgive her for abondoning her at a young age. This woman and I had such a deep conversation for an hour and I must say I do admire her for all she has been through. She now lives in poverty and just tries to get through each day. She says the only thing she has is her power or writing. She is currently in the process of writing an autobiography called "Torn Between" tracing back to all the events of her life. The book will most definetly be aspiring and will appeal to many struggling women. Whether its ever published or not, I hope this women knows that she has made an incredible impact on me and has inspired me deeply. She has also shown me the importance of writing and how it can keep one going.

Daily Aged Celebrities- How Pathetic

I was reading the daily news, and I come across the entertainment section. I love reading this section because it always has something scandalous or some juicy new gossip to read up on. Suprisingly what I came across was digitally aged photos of a variety of celebrities. This is truly so pathetic. Who would honestly waste their time to see what famous stars will look like in their future years. I mean it is hysterical, but so uneccessary. People really need to start doing better things with their time. The press never fails to amuse me. Everday they just prove how more and more obcessed they are with celebrities. Well, you can take a look to:

Paris Hilton

Derek Jeter

Play Hard, Work Harder!

Sources claim that Lindsay Lohan has signed a contract to play a sex-addicted waitress in a new movie called "Florence." What shocks me the most is that she is only getting paid $75,000 for the part. From my knowledge, actors and actresses usually get paid a much larger amount than that. I wonder why she agreed to such a small pay. I am also curious to see how successful the movie is. Perhaps, it will be a future Oscar rewarding movie. From what I have watched, Lindsay Lohan is a good actress. I loved her in the movie "Parent Trap", but then again that was in the early 1990's before she was a drug addict, psycho, anorexic, lost soul. However, Lindsay Lohan claims that what she is aiming for now is to indeed ,win an Oscar. She is getting agitated with the press and media and wants to focus more on her work oppossed to just partying and being on the front page for going out and having a good time. She stated in an interview :“The thing about the press and why they need to leave me the [bleep] alone for a little bit is because I don’t want that distraction from my work. I want to get a nomination. I want to win an Oscar. I want to be known for more than, like, going out. For being ‘the party girl.’ I hate that. I bust my [bleep] when I’m filming, and when I gave time off, yeah, I like to go out and dance.” Evidently, she wants to be noticed more for her talents, not her social life. Regarding this, Lohan states “No. I mean, I’ve been acting my whole life. And this is what I love to do. And I’m very lucky and blessed to be able to do that. I’m 20 years old. Is it a crime to go … dancing with your friends? I have a life and I have my family and I have work and I have those three things.” I kinda do feel a little bad for her. Regardless of all the mistakes she's made in life and the bad choices and obstacles she has faced, she has grown to be mature and knows whats she wants. I mean we all love to go out and party and have a good time and I don't believe she should be criticized for what she does in her leisure time. When it comes to work, she does get the job done. I do hope her new movie is a success and I plan to see it upon its arrival.

"I See You Winding and Grinding Up on that Pole"

The title of this blog sounds familiar, doesn't it? Of course we all know this famous song by Akon because it became a huge hit this year. It appauls me how such a dirty and obscene song could become such a classic. The title alone is degrading "I Wanna ___ You." The radio trys to cover it up and say its "I Wanna Love You", but we all know the real meaning. The sad part is in today's society this is what we consider a love song. Why is it that every song that becomes popular involves the use of drugs, crimes, cheating and sex? What ever happened to singing about sweet romance or reaching for your dreams? What agitates me the most is the disrespect these songs have towards women. Women are no longer referred to as beautiful and special, but rather sexy and b*tches. Male Rappers, in particular, try to portray this trashy image of women in the public eye. The way they describe their encounters with women is so graphic and rude towards females. In fact, their descriptions are utterly disturbing. Picture this, your at a club with the lights flashing and your dancing. What song do you typically hear? "Smack That" and "Buy you a Drink." Both songs imply that a man will meet you at a club and take you home with him. I don't see how females can dance to music that sheds them in a negative light. They treat women with no respect. These rappers infer they will "Buy you a drink" and then get lucky with you. An article I find quite intriguing relating to this topic can be viewed at http://www.dailybruin.ucla.edu/archives/id/41608/. Take the time to read it and see what a disgrace today's top ten in the music industry truly is to humanity.

An Eerie Prediction

No one quite understands the complexity of the nuclear industry. All we know about it is that atomic bombs destroy the foundations of countries and can kill millions of civilians. What will it take for us to realize the severity of nuclear weaponry and increase security to protect the well being of our country? What will open our eyes to make us see that all it takes is one atomic bomb to wipe out the home we have worked so hard to establish? In John McPhee’s work The Curve of Binding Energy, he brings upon many urgently important topics that should be addressed, as we are currently in a nuclear age with advancing technology.Theodore B. Taylor was one of the most significant individuals involving nuclear power. However, in his later years he became extremely concerned with the fact that it was possible for any person to create a weapon of mass destruction of their own. Knowing this, he aimed to warn the public about homemade nuclear weaponry in an effort to better our security. In McPhee’s work this warning is presented and is emphasized with great importance. McPhee raises many different issues throughout the story. However, what I find most important was Taylor’s argument regarding safeguards. It is essential that we increase and improve our security because terrorists’ attacks are inevitable, as claimed by Taylor. I believe that this work instills fears in those who read it because it opens our eyes to the simplicity of creating a nuclear bomb. Nuclear attacks can take place at anytime because the nuclear materials are easily accessible. Therefore, we must take more intense measures to insure safety and the effectiveness of our security, especially in this new millennium. If bombs weren’t challenging to create back in the 1970’s, there are going to be even easier to create in the year 2008, due to all the techonologial advances. Taylor claimed that any person with moderate technical skills and perseverance could construct their own atomic bomb. This is extremely petrifying because we see how close our country could be to a traumatic terrorist attack. I agree with Taylor in that we need to take more precautions when dealing with safeguarding our nuclear materials. This warning that he provides for us should make us realize that nuclear bombings will be less difficult to occur in the future. Uranium -235 and Plutonium -239, the materials used to create a bomb, need to be strictly contained in all safe places. This book should be used as a wake up call to the United States in making us aware that it is urgently important that these materials are safeguarded to the fullest. If I could describe this book in two words I would call it an “eerie prediction.” After experiencing the September 11, 2001 attack, we have all realized how easy terrorist attacks can be and we see how far a terrorist will go to complete the ultimate destruction. It’s as if Taylor’s claims to McPhee had foreshadowed what would occur several decades later. I find it truly appalling how this warning presented to us in the 1970’s regarding security would become of great need on that tragic day. Taylor made it clear that terrorists’ attacks will occur in every civilization, and sure enough it did in our nation. It even makes me wonder if this attack was in some way inspired by this book. Although, the demolishment of the World Trade Center did not involve an atomic explosive, it is ironic how the World Trade Center is mentioned as a possible terrorist attack target in the book. We should appreciate this book for its intellectual warning. It’sAlthough I believe security is now at the highest peak than ever due to our tragedy back in 2001, the US Atomic Energy Commission should still continue to substantially strengthen its rules for security for nuclear material. After all, Theodore B. Taylor did make a terrifying case that terrorists could easily steal nuclear material and make a bomb from it. If the September 11, 2001 attack did not make us realize the significance of his warning, then I don’t know what else will.

It Shows Rather Than Tells...

“Fiction”, “Nonfiction”, “Mystery” and “Romance”, are just a few of the many types of genres that a book can be classified as. Each of these genres are unique in their own way and succeed through different demographics. One in which I find extremely appealing, is Creative Nonfiction. Through the use of literary styles and techniques, Creative Nonfiction, takes valid truths and facts and develops them into an accurate narrative. Creative Nonfiction is utterly intriguing in the way it combines nonfiction elements and literary elements. It incorporates the facts, such as essays, explanations and research, with literary items including story, characters, setting, language and narration. The information is not made up, but takes a more interesting approach in presenting it. It provides real world facts and issues in an appealing matter. Furthermore, it allows for the information to come alive through the use of setting, characters, scenes and narration, which accounts for the “creative” aspect. As a result, one will understand the main point better for Creative Nonfiction “shows rather than tells.” Lastly, it is known for uniting storytelling with journalism. “Ultimately, the primary goal of the creative nonfiction writer is to communicate information, just like a reporter, but to shape it in a way that reads like fiction.”(Gutkind,Lee, The Best Creative Nonfiction.) The two novels we have read this semester are both valid examples of Creative Nonfiction books. All Around The Town by Herbert Asbury discusses the murder, scandal and riot in old New York. Opposed to just listing the facts and research of each incident, Asbury creates a literary narrative while incorporating the actual events of old New York. In The Curve of Binding Energy, John McPhee presents information on Theodore B. Taylor’s life in the same approach used by Asbury. Rather than just sounding like they are reporting data, both works have more of a fictional and thrilling effect. As a result, both stories gain a sense of creativity, therefore creating more attraction to the reader. Although Creative Nonfiction did once go by the name “Literary Journalism”, it is immensely different than that of journalism. Journalism can be defined as the reporting of information that is researched and gathered. Both Journalism and Creative Nonfiction report information discovered, however, Creative Nonfiction expresses it in the form of a story using literary elements, rather than just straightforward data, which is evident in journalism. Furthermore, Creative Nonfiction is also different from Creative Writing. Both genres present information with a sense of creativity and imagination. However, the information in Creative Nonfiction is always real facts and is accurate, whereas Creative Writing can be a work entirely made up. As a result, Creative Nonfiction, I believe is a more effective method of genre than the other two. This is because it has the characteristics of both. It informs the audience on important issues and topics, similar to journalism, but does it in a fascinating and imaginative way, like that of Creative Writing. Additionally, the methods we use to write a successful Creative Nonfiction work are methods that will assist us in writing better academic papers in college. Creative Nonfiction requires you to research thoroughly and be capable of describing the events accurately. These skills are very useful when writing just about any paper. Furthermore, when writing in regards to this genre, it is necessary to be creative and make the stories and people come alive. It is also essential that you construct a clear style that has rich texture, dramatic pace and rhythm. Lastly and most importantly, when using this genre you should write to enrich the lives of others with a sense of value and hope for the importance of our lives and our history. Evidently, these are all wonderful characteristics that will enable you to progress into a stronger writer. I believe Creative Nonfiction is the most unique genre. Not only does it make important information accessible, it makes it full of life and wonder. Creativity is an amazing aspect of writing, especially when discussing actual events. Creative Nonfiction tells of our history and humanity in a way that will appeal to all.

Career Unraveled in Scandal

I'm sure we have all heard about the scandal with Governor Spitzer. I find it amazing how disgraceful a politician can be to society. Although I could really care less about Spitzer's personal life, it just makes him look like a horrible person in the eyes of the public. I mean if he wants to go out and spend $80,000 on a prostitute thats his business, but he shouldn't do it in a way where it will be revealed to the public and ultimately cause him his career. A very intelligent man who worked immensely hard to be in the position he is in today, has now just demolished all of his efforts and hard work because of his encounters with the black market. As far as I'm concerned, his career as a politician and a lawyer is destroyed for good, because the civilians now just see him as a dishonest, cheating, pig. What amazes me even more than his wife still standing by his side, is how his sex partner "Kristen", has benefitted from this scandal and is now making millions of dollars. Have u picked up the paper lately? The first ten pages of the newspaper are all pictures and stories about her. This really makes me wonder what is wrong with society. Not only is her life story and photos irrelavant, it also is sending off a bad signal to society, especially to young girls. It's telling them go ahead: be an illegal prostitute , sleep with a politician and make millions of dollars. What boggles my brain is how there are so many other important issues going on today and all everyone cares about is the Governors sex life. By no means am I defending him, but I just feel we need to let it go. We are dragging this issue out and making a "whore" a celebrity, like we really need anymore of those! I mean what happened , happened. The Governor knows what he did and he resigned. Just leave it at that. As for his little "mate", she needs to stop gaining all this publicity, fame and fortune for sleeping with an important figure of society. This whole story gives our government a negative image. Lastly, the way the media keeps exposing this whole thing makes it even worse and more intense.

Instilling Fears

According to Ok! Magazine as well as several other sources, Britney Spears apparently has a stalker. That must be so increibly freaky to have someone watch you and invade your personal life; in her case more than it already is. They believe it is a mysterious obcessed fan who is sending her letters and gifts. It is currently being investigated by the FBI. The stalker is sending her all threatening letters with horrible handwritting, as well as inappropriate toys that is just disrepesctful and degrading. In fact, whats really scary is that he sent a picture of himself with his eyes cut out. He appears to be a middle aged white male. In addition, he has Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's names on the outside of each package. This makes it even more mysterious, as to what the couple has to do with Britney Spears. Although it may seem far fetched, it is a serious issue that must be handled immediately. This stalker might just be doing as a prank for laughs, but thenagain he could be insane and extremely dangerous. I personally hate Brintey Spears, but I would hope that the FBI takes the necessary measures to find this guy, for I would not like to see her hurt or possibly dead. I find it truly amazing how lame people are. Do you honestly have no life that you must sit around and try to bring other people down. What this man is doing is irrelavant and unecessary. He doesn't realize how much trouble he can be in, when its not even worth it.

"The grass isnt always greener are the other side."

I'm sure you have all heard the saying "the grass isnt always greener on the other side." This quote is actually very true and has great meaning to it. When we look at celebrities we see fame and fortune, beauty and perfection. I remember as a little girl I wanted to be just like the Spice Girls or Mariah Carey. I looked at them and idolized them. I wish I could live the life they live. They could buy whatever they want , go wherever they want and look like what ever they want. Everyone wants to be a celebrity. However, as I got older I realized being a famous star isn't as great as just living a normal average life like I do. After reading all the articles how celebrities such as Lindsey Lohan and Britney Spears turn to drugs and alcohol abuse to ease their pain, makes me realize they are not better than your ordianary person. Living the life of a celebrity can be glamorous and fabulous but is also very stressful and allows you to have no personal life. The media and the public can become so overwhelming , that being astry from a normal lifestyle only forces you to hit rock bottom. I'm not saying every celebrity turns into failure, but I find it truly amazing how stars could be so incredibly famous and have everything they want but still be miserable. People would die to live the life they do, but yet they throw everything away that they have ever worked for. Look at Marykate and Ashely Olsen. They have been admired and love since the "Full House Days." They worked since they were babies to make it to the top. Now look at where they are today, sniffing cocaine and perging their food. I guess being in the publics eye all the time isn't the best thing. Everyone always wishes they were someone else or had what somebody else had. But maybe if we could just all be content with who we are and what we have we wouldn't fall into seirous issues like depression, drug abuse or eating disorders. In my opinion, I believe celebrities are too overpressured trying to put on an image and be someone their really not. You should be famous because you have a special talent that can inspire and entertain the public, not because you take vulgar pictures or do drugs. I feel as if celebrities put on a mask everyday to just be what they think the audience wants them to be. The only advice I can give is be yourself and love who you are. It's not about money or fame or status. Ironically, everyday middle class people seem to be living a happier life than those that have six houses, ten cars and all the fame and fortune in the world. Love accept who you are, because people should love you for the true you.

Rating the Final 20!

American Idol has kicked off its seventh season and is now down to the final 20! What do you think of the talen of the remaining contestants? Jason Castro has shocked everyone from going to an invisible contestant to a hopeful celebrity. His performance of "DayDream" was a lifesaver for him. Asia'h Epperson has caught the heart of thye judges from the very beginning and I think she will continue to do so. I think she is a big threat to her competition. Brooke White , to me is too much of a karoke singer. I feel there are better voices out there. Just as Simon claimed, David Cook is nothing without his guitar. He is way to vulernable. As for Kady Malloy, she is still being haunted for her horrid Britney Spears impersonation. In my opinion, I feel this is the wrse season yet. I have been a big fan of American Idol since season one back in 2002. I think the show is getting too played out and the talent just isn't as great as it was back in earlier seasons. My favorite season was number two. Clay Aiken , Ruben Studdard and Kimberly Locke were all star studded performers. There is really no one that wows me in this season. If I had to choose I would say Asia'h is my favorite and has the most potential to win. The following is the list of the remaining 20:

David Archuleta
Robbie Carrico
Jason Castro
Chikezie
David Cook
Kristy Lee Cook
Asia'h Epperson
David Hernandez
Michael Johns
Alexandréa Lushington
Kady Malloy
Ramiele Malubay
Luke Menard
Syesha Mercado
Danny Noriega
Amanda Overmyer
Carly Smithson
Alaina Whitaker
Brooke White
Jason Yeager

Who will be the next American Idol?

Winners Rejoice at 2008 Oscars (fashion show).

The 2008 Oscar's took place on February 24, 2008. The media was sure to be present at this one as we witnessed what celebrities won what, what they wore and what they said. The Kodax Theater was filled with big smiles as "No Country For Old Men" seem to be the biggest hit at this event. It was an Academy award winner for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor and best Adapted Screen Play. I was quite appauled at the results. I saw this movie when it came out and I didn't really find it that incredible. "Juno" won best orginal screen play which I was very content with. I saw that movie and I found it very inspiring and touching, yet comical at the same time. Other movies that took home academy several awards were "Freeheld", "Atonement" and "There will be Blood." I cannot imagine how thrilled those involved in these movies must be. That is truly an amazing accomplishment to win an Oscar. What I find great about the Oscar's is that what people tend to care about most is who wears what to the event. The next day in the News you always hear criticism about the attire of the celebrities. It is just so irrelavant. The purpose of the Oscar's is to acknowledge award winning movies and congratulate them for their success throughout the year. It's not a fashion show, although that what many people make it out to be. . Some of the celebrities who I thought were the best dressed were as follows: Amy Adams, Heidi Klum and Renee Zellweger. Some of the worst dressed I felt were Ellen Page (way to plain), Hilary Swank (her dress was extremely odd and weird) and Kelly Preston (what an ugly color for a dress!) So, what did you think of the celebrity style for this Oscars?

Are Celebrities victims of "Defamation" ?

I was browsing through the interent looking for some articles on defamation for my Business Law class and I came across a very interesting one, that relates to my blogs. It was titled "Celebrity Lawsuits" and it discusses celebrities who have sued for libel, slander and defamation of character. Defamation occurrs frequently in the media. We hear rumors everyday on TV , in the newspaper and in magazines. However, I feel we see it most with celebrities. I feel that they definitely have it the hardest with slander and libel. There is always something in new about celebrities that is very demeaning and can damage their reputation and ultimately their career. The thing that gets me the most is half the stuff the media uses to get the publics attention isn't even true. The stuff that is true is really of no great significance and shouldn't even be publicated to other parties. For example, why must we all know that Britney Spears didn't wear underwear under her dress. Or why does anyone care that Cameron Diaz takes topless pictures. The media is so absurd and this is the kind of stuff they try to use to gain more publicity. Although some of the statements they may make about celebrities are indeed the truth, they must be very cautious when claiming a statement of fact. I feel that what the media tells the public is really not a need to know basis and I feel that they really don't have qualified privlage to make claims about celebrities to just be more entertaining. I feel that the media acts with extreme reckless disregard for the truth and privacy of celebrities. According to the article I found, there have been many cases in which celebrities have sued for libel and slander, which draws a conclusion that celebrities are in fact victims of defamation, just as we all are. To read up on these cases , check out the website: http://www.personal-injury-info.net/celebrity-lawsuits.htm.

New Gossip : Roger Clemens takes steroids ?

There has been a huge debate going on over whether or not Roger Clemens has used steroids. This controversy is putting his entire baseball career into question, due to the fact that the use of steroids is illegal in this sport. Is this just a rumor? Or did this famous baseball celebrity really use steroids? Many say they see signs of steroid effects, such as rages and the fact that he hasen't gotten worn out as he got older. Although we take these accounts into considertion, we really don't know if he did use them. His trainer, Brain McNamee has claimed his use of steroids , insisting that he hsa clear evidence. He has needles of his steroids usage dating back to 1998. This statement appauls me , because I find it very odd that he would save used needles for ten years. This makes the story even more suspicious. In fact, I find this whole ongoing debate completely absurd and ridiculous. There are crimes and wars and terrible incidents occurring in our world that are of much greater importance than this. I am aware that steroids are illegal in baseball, but in my opinion it is being blown out of proportion.Sadly, it has become one of the biggest and most populous stories occurring in our nation. How retarded!! It's quite sickening how Americans are more concerned if a celebrity sticks a needle in his body to increase his performance at baseball, while thousands of soldiers are being killed in Iraq. It just goes to show how powerful gossip really is.

Where are they now? -- American Idol Contestants

"A Moment Like This" by Kelly Clarkson began one of the most amazing journeys America would ever encounter in the Entertainment World. It seems like just yesterday when American Idol show just began and we amazed at this new fantastic show. It brought the chance to millions of talented Americans to shine and show off truly one of life's best gifts- a beautiful voice. American Idol has been on air for almost a decade now and we have seen so many new potential stars come and go. However, did you ever wonder where they are now? Did their appearance in American Idol get them the big break? Or are they right back to where they started?

Some people have benefitted greatly from their participation. Let's take a look at Diana Degarmo. She came in second place to Fantasia Burrino. Now the young star has recorded an outstanding album and has played in the Broadway musical "Hairspray." Now let's look at a downfall. How about someone like William Hung. This horrible singer never made it past the first audition but ironically has made over a million dollars. I am appauled that a man without absolutely no singing talent could become so famous off of butchering Ricky Martin's song "She Bangs." How about Julia Demato from season 2. Coming in 10th place she was a big hit and unforunately never has made something of herself in the entertainment business. She nows lives in Connecticuit with her one year old son and is a hairstylist. Remember the little country girl Carmen from season 2 as well. She is now married and remains to just be a local celebrity. However, her first country CD is coming out shortly. Although many did not make it anywhere in the Entertainment world, we did get several extroadinary singers who have benefitted greatly to the world of entertainment. Just to mention a few we have Carrie Underwood, Clay Aiken, Jordin Sparks, etcc..

Let's find out who wil be the next American Idol!!!

Fame and Misfortune

"Hit me Baby One More Time", started out Britney Spear's career as such an innocent and admirable young rising star that would inspire millions of jovenile girls. Although her singing talent did bring her to success and fame, ultimately it brought her down to depths of misery. She has been through it all- a bitter divorce, excessive use of drugs and alcohol, losing custody of kids , in and out of rehab, suicide attempts and gaining an incredibly degrading reputation. However, the infamous star finally admits to "feeling lost" and seeks for rehabilitation help. But who is to really blame for her misfortunes? Was her fame and fortune too much to bare? Was it troubles in her personal life involving her husband, children, family and friends? Or is she merely just a victim of insanity?

In the 1990's and into the early 2000's Britney Spears had it all. She was young, hot , idoloized by millions of fans and had hit CDS that were sold out everywhere. Unforunately, as she the years went on we saw a negative transition in her career, and she no longer became the star dancing around to "Toxic" or "In the Zone." She became completely out of control and lacked to take responsibility for anything in her life, not her family and children nor her career that has now hit rock bottom.

In my opinion I put the papparazzi and the media at blame for most of her downfall. The public becomes too overwhelming and don't allow celebrities to live a normal life. They are always in their business and try to look for the flaws to provide entertainment for the public. This is not a positive thing. We see evidence of this in the life of celebrities such as Lindsey Lohan. It really is a shame how these talented people could reach such great heights of success and then fall into severe depression.

Although I always wished to be a a famous celebrity because you are rich and popular and live the "American Dream." Looking back on celebrities especially Britney Spears I realized I wouldn't want to live like that. She had everything any young star could dream of and look at where she is now. All the millions and millions of dollars she has made, means nothing now because shes alone and miserable. I don't see fame as a fortune anymore. In my eyes it has suddenly become an extreme and utter misfortune.

Cinema Entertainment

What's going on in the world of movies? There happens to be some very good movies that can meet the interests of a variety of audiences out in theaters now. This week's "Spotlight" according to movies.com, is "The Eye" starring Jessica Alba. A thrilling fright of a girl who through experimental procedur gets her sight back and ironically wishes against it because her visions are now immensely haunting. "Strange Wilderness" starring Steve Zahn and Allen Covert as the hosts of a reality show. Meant to be a humorous and comical movie, it unforunately has poor ratings. Also in this week which I can foreshadow will be a big hit to young girls is the "Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both World's Concert." Inspired by the Disney channel series "Hannah Montana" , this movie happens to rock the audiences. To find out more about upcoming movies you can visit http://movies.go.com/newandupcoming. I happen to like Miley Cyrus myself and she is admired by a large amount of young girls. I just hope she doesn't turn into a bad influence like Jamie Spears, who is now sixteen and pregnant or all the other young pop stars like Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen who are idolized by young girls. It is so depressing how our generation looks up to poor role models like them. But , what can you do! We have no one to blame but the entertainment business for being so persuasive. Anyhow, check out these movies as well as the website to see what else is playing!

Scandalous Romance

We all have heard about the tragic death of Heath Ledger, one of hollywood's greatest stars. However, what we are also now hearing about is his relationship with Mary Kate Olsen, that was much more than a friendship. Supposebly there was a reportedly love affair that grows deeper than we have all imagined. According to sources, the two were together for three months before Heath's tragic death last week. Although they weren't exclusive, what appauls me is how when Ledger was found dead a call was made out to Mary Kate Olsen, before 911. This brings about much curiousity. I wonder if she had something to do with this horrific death. Rumors are being spread everywhere about the relation among the two. Which are true and which are fallacious? It is still under investigation. I find it quite comical how people seem to be more interested in the relationship between Heath and Mary-Kate when we should be more focused on grieving the death of a talented young man. However, that's Hollywood for you. The more scandalous, the more excitement brought to the public!

*Glamorous Gossip*

Entertainment truly is one of the greatest and most well known industries in the whole entire world. It has expanded immensely throughout the past centuries and will continue to in the future. When I think of the word entertainment, fun and excitement comes in mind. It is an area of Movies, TV shows, Fashion , Sports and Music. However, what intrigues me most about the entertainment business is how scandalous it can be. What also interests me is how in this century people have become more interested in the drama of the celebrities oppose to their true talents and why they are in the entertainment business in the first place. Ironically, the entertainment industry has become like one big soap opera that everyone loves to watch and hear about. Due to all the publicity and criticizing we see in the papers and on TV of these celebrities and new era of fashion, movies and TV, I have been inspired to construct this blog page. Isn't it just amazing how finding out if Britney Spears is pregnant again is now more of a scientific study than a cure for cancer is? I truly find this all quite comical and I plan to share it all with you;the good, the bad, the corrupt and everything in between. Glamorous Gossip will none-the-less prove to you how celebrity gossip really does sparkle!
